[2024/05/13 15:45] Sonja Bikergrrl: Dahlia is closer to the gods both in class and experience, her vision is much more clear. There's trees, and creatures, mostly unseen. Wolves howl mournfully, and the path goes on and on... and always the sound of wolves, although now Dahlia appears to be sitting astride a stoic cat. Now there's intense combat, and the view gets obscured by a thickening red mist. And just under the red mist... some twitching, writhing tentacles.

But what catches your eye most of all is the notes that hes' written and carelessly left out... a parchment titled "Rite to Destroy an Artifact of Great Power?" The text contains a lot of scribbles and notes, obviously a summary... "De la Poers found this, first translation", "An ancient rite, destroying an Artifact of Great Power", "Get Skuzz to find the original copy", "Last seen at Arc", "kept out of the wrong hands"

Other than the deranged clanking of a blacksmith hammer and various fruit at bizarre prices, there's drinkers and revelers out and about. At the Bargewright Inn, you notice many familiar types lounging about with tankards, many of them mumble greetings as you enter and raise their glasses

[2024/05/13 16:52] Sonja Bikergrrl: The barman, a big gruff guy with a beard scattered about his chin wanders over. "Whatcha 'avin'?"
[2024/05/13 16:53] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She eyes the casks in the back. "A decent ale, and a hunk of bread and cheese if you got it."
[2024/05/13 16:55] Sonja Bikergrrl: The barkeeper nods and fetches the things, plonks them down in front of you, as two guys sidle up and take the stools either side. Both seem lean, although far from weak, they order their drinks and the one on the left leans over. "Debben, ain't it? Glad to see you. It'll be an easy job... just keep a look out, we do the biz, no one gets hurt."
[2024/05/13 16:57] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She'd sat at the edge of the bar, so presumably one of them has to use the stool awkwardly. "Anyone in specific?" She asks, before stuffing the cheese into the middle of the bread and taking a bite.
[2024/05/13 16:58] Sonja Bikergrrl: Guy on the left shrugs. "Some merchant or something, got a silver idol that some other mechant wants. They're paying, so, we go, we nab it, we leg it."
[2024/05/13 17:00] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She nods, taking a sip of ale. "So house guards or so forth, most likely to be snooping?"
[2024/05/13 17:01] Sonja Bikergrrl: Guy on left: "We scoped it out, it'll be an easy job. Just got to be hush hush, y'know."
[2024/05/13 17:03] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "I like the sound of easy," she confirms.
[2024/05/13 17:04] Sonja Bikergrrl: Guy on left: "Easy in, easy out, easy money. Anyways, its' about time, let's hit that mark."
[2024/05/13 17:07] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She starts pulling down her ale more quickly, leaving a suitable denomination of coin to pay for the evening snack.
[2024/05/13 17:09] Sonja Bikergrrl: The two rogues lead the way, it's quite a maze of streets and alleys but before long, they pause at a large building. "This is it," one says, and they set off into an alley. "You stay out of site and keep watch," says the other and he too disappears into the alley. After a few moments, a loud CRASH-clang of a trash can being walked into, followed by a cat screeching in alarm. "Damnit! Keep it quiet!" hisses a voice
[2024/05/13 17:12] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: if only Debben knew a good Silence spell... well, she'll instead track down a good hiding spot and take a seat to set up watch.
[2024/05/13 17:13] Sonja Bikergrrl: A couple of drunken revellers wander past, swaying from side to side of the road. A little later, a city nightwatchman wanders by the other way, clearly catching sight of you but pointedly looking the other way quickly.
[2024/05/13 17:14] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Already noticing me? Seems this isn't a good hiding spot then.
[2024/05/13 17:15] Sonja Bikergrrl: Maybe he expected you.
[2024/05/13 17:16] Sonja Bikergrrl: Some time passes, and you hear muffled curses, then a drain cover lifts up, and a small, bushy-bearded gnome clambers out, dusts his hands off, looks around, and heads to an alley across the street.

[2024/05/13 17:24] Sonja Bikergrrl: It seems like hours, but, probably only a few minutes when there's a blood curdling shriek. Mere moments later the gnome hurtles out of the alleyway, cursing wildly, as behind him, a woman screams out "My child! Murder! Murder!"
[2024/05/13 17:26] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She curses under her breath. That.... might actually be something that will mess with their operation.
[2024/05/13 17:26] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Not to mention her ongoing stay in the city....
[2024/05/13 17:27] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: I never got my crossbow, did I? just as well, need to avoid getting blood on my hands.
[2024/05/13 17:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: Indeed. The cry of "Murder!" comes from more voices now, as windows are flung open and lights are lit. The gnome scrabbles back down the manhole, yanking the cover back, as someone yells: "There he is!" By the sound of it, half the city are roused and out for someones' neck now.
[2024/05/13 17:28] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: So! I'll put an illusion on the gnome, so that whichever direction he starts running, there will appear to be a guard coming around that corner, get him turned around and slowed down
[2024/05/13 17:28] Sonja Bikergrrl: The two rogues dart out from behind you. "What the hell...?"
[2024/05/13 17:31] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "It's the damn baby-killer in the other alley. I'll slow him down and the guards will focus on him instead of you."
[2024/05/13 17:32] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Sod that!" says one, grabbing hold of you. "Here!" The other one starts jumping up and down, holding his foot theatrically. "We got this, just... shush!" The, shouting out loudly, "WE GOT HIM!"

[2024/05/13 17:40] Sonja Bikergrrl: As various angry folk exit doors, alleys and wave improvized weapons about, the guy hopping up and down starts cursing a blue streak. He pauses long enough to say, between some rather choice expletives: "Bastard got me! Stamped on me foot! He's vicious, he is! Stabbed me mate in the gut!" The other guy starts groaning loudly, doubling over and trying his best to conceal you from sight. Meanwhile, the swearing hopping guy points down the street. "There he is! See? Get him!"
[2024/05/13 17:41] Sonja Bikergrrl: The crowd charge down the street, hollering and baying like a pack of mad dogs. One of the rogues says: "I can't believe they fell for that."
[2024/05/13 17:42] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: Oh, that... actually might work, filled with rage she might be, she gets shoved out of the way and holds one hand over her eye as if she took a face wound. "Humans only think one thought at a time when they're angry."
[2024/05/13 17:43] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Let's get outta here," says the other rogue, passing Debben a rather bulging leather purse.
[2024/05/13 17:45] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: She slips it under her cloak, to the sewn in pocket by the small of her back. "I'll ask questions after."
[2024/05/13 17:46] Sonja Bikergrrl: By a rather circuitious route they lead the way back to the inn, and pause outside. "No time for questions, we got the goods, you got your gold, we didn't see you and you didn't see us!" The other one says "Yeah, we was praying at the temple all night, we was."
[2024/05/13 17:48] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Right. I was at the library, studying," she confirms. "Decided it was about time for a snack."
[2024/05/13 17:49] Sonja Bikergrrl: "Yeah," agrees the first one. "Sounds good." He slaps the other one. "Praying in a temple!?"
[2024/05/13 17:49] Sonja Bikergrrl: The two rogues disappear into the inn. Might be time to head home and lay low for a few days.
[2024/05/13 17:51] Alicia Frakture: *Excuse this one for a moment please.*
[2024/05/13 17:53] MidnightMinion Cyberstar: "Yeah.... time to lay low."
[2024/05/13 17:54] Sonja Bikergrrl: So, heading back home, luckily it's uneventful. There's some advantages to the small hours, as everyone is asleep. Although....
